Trimble RTS/SPS: Unable to Measure / Vibrating

Problem: Robotic Total Station tracks the prism, but position does not update on data collector either through the map or through measurements.

Solution: This is often caused by the instrument vibrating due to site conditions. While the instrument is vibrating, the compensator does not allow the instrument to record a measurement, but the tracker will still auto-lock onto prism. To resolve, move instrument from current location to new and reestablish position within data collector or create a more stable tripod setup by widening the stance and weighing down legs.

Set the instrument up and level it BEFORE turning it on. Once it is fully level, then turn on the robot. It seems that sometimes the compensator can get stuck when the robot is on and tilted more than a few degrees and it will vibrate because it is constantly trying to correct itself. By setting it up before turning it on, the instrument comes on when it is already level and it can correct that issue."
